When Your Gifts Make Room For You…
It’s Monday, typically the busiest of them all, yet she decides to take a moment to bask in the joy of her accomplishments. She smiles, and releases a long sigh. Though it’s been an uphill battle for a great length of time, it is now apparent to Faith, that her gifts are finally making room for her. After many years of pondering, searching, and wondering, the time has arrived, and the fruits of her labor are in full bloom. She’s ecstatic and hopeful, beyond words. The starry eyed wordsmith quickly recalls the scripture in Genesis, chapter 26 to mind. She’s reminded of how Isaac and his household, who dug many wells, only to be told each time, there wasn’t room, eventually came out in victory. God made room for them in vs 22, and in honor, he (Isaac) named the well Rehoboth, meaning “plenty of room.” And so the first part of the verse reads, “And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not:….)” It’s important to note that, this was the first time they didn’t have to fight over their right to settle and dig a well there. Each time prior too, they were told they could not keep the well they’d just dug, and were forced to move on. “And he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the Lord had made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.” What’s even better, is that in verse 24, Isaac set out to Beer-sheba, where the Lord appeared to him that same night. He came to let Isaac know not to fear, that He would be with him, that He would bless him, and also that He would multiply him for his father Abraham’s sake. In thanksgiving, Isaac “built an alter at that place, called on the name of the Lord, pitched his tent, and allowed his servants to build yet another well,” problem free. Certainly, a shift had now taken place, and after much struggle, Isaac was reaping the benefits of his efforts.
